Google has announced a new communication and collaboration paradigm called Wave. It's sort of a marriage between email and instant message with social networking implications. Each "Wave" is an ongoing conversation where people can share documents, images, etc. Each Wave could also be thought-of as a highly focused private social network.
It is so intriguing because it's so new. Google announced this new technology back in May because they wanted to engage third-party developers in creating solutions that utilize Wave. I think it was also because they were not sure of where the best places to use the technology are as well!
Much like social networking, which is a communication medium that does not have a "real world" equal, it will take a bit of time to find the right uses for the Wave. And just like social networking, the only way to find the right solution is to jump in and experiment.
